Entertainment is important in all of our lives. It helps us take a break from all of the stress and hard work that goes into our daily lives. It allows us to relax with our friends and family. Without it, life would become very boring and mundane.
Bates and Ferri (2010) define entertainment as an activity understood objectively, that communicates from a text to an audience, is externally stimulated, offers pleasure, requires an audience and occurs in a passive form.
The word entertainment is derived from the Middle French entretenement, which itself was formed by the Latin prefix inter, meaning “inside” and the suffix -tenere, a play on the Indo-European root ten, meaning to stretch or expand.
